MESSAGE 2010
I copied portions of the Bible onto transparent sheets and overlapped them, and then engraved messages such as LOVE and HOPE with a knife. When the lights are off, the messages aren't visible, but with the lights on they slowly appear. The fundamental message of the Bible can be summed up in a few words, and they are slowly imprinted on our minds as we read it. This work visualizes the process of condensing the structure of the text in a myriad of warp and weft into a handful of key ideas.
성경을 투명용지에 복사하여 겹치고 LOVE, HOPE와 같은 MESSAGE를 칼로 오려서 새겨 넣었다. 조명이 꺼져 있을 때는 MESSAGE가 보이지 않지만 조명이 서서히 켜지면서 MESSAGE가 떠오르도록 장치하였다. 성경의 근본적인 MESSAGE는 몇 가지 단어로 요약할 수 있으며 그것은 책을 읽는 동안 우리의 정신에 서서히 인식되고 각인된다. 무수한 씨줄과 날줄로 이루어진 텍스트의 짜임이 몇 가지 핵심사상으로 압축되고 도출되는 과정을 시각화하였다.
